Recreational

The Fall recreational program is the backbone of the NSYSA.  Every Fall, we have around 400 youths engaged in soccer ranging in ages from 2 years old to 15 years old.  Individual team practices are held in the evening during the week.  Games are held on Saturday’s and usually run from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM.  Players are split into divisions based on their birth year and we run six division – mini-kickers, U6, U8, U10, U12, U14/16.

Registration for Fall Recreational typically opens around April school vacation with an “Early-Bird” Discount which runs through the originally scheduled end of the school year.  Normal registration typically ends on July 15th and late registration ends on July 31st.  After July 31st, we institute a “Wait List.”  Players will be removed from the wait list on an as needed basis to fill teams in certain divisions, to facilitate sponsorships or for other purposes deemed necessary by NSYSA.

MiniKickers

MiniKickers is an EXCITING PROGRAM focusing on the development of children aged 2 and 3 years.  NSYSA, in cooperation with the soccer experts from Play90 and child development professionals have designed an innovative curriculum that introduces your young soccer stars to the basic skills needed in soccer as well as developing their motor, social and psychological skills.

MiniKickers meet for one hour every Saturday during the season usually at 9:00 AM.

Play90’s coaches are experts at working with young children and will combine soccer with fun games and stories the keeps your child entertained and enthused to return week after week.

The MiniKickers program is available to players aged 2 and 3 years old.  The curriculum has been created to promote and enhance the key areas of child development with a major focus on fun!

Modules aim to use soccer as a medium for children to develop their balance, agility, coordination, color recognition and numerical learning along with increasing their confidence and social skills.  We understand the importance of goal setting and have therefore designed progressive levels within each module based on attendance.

U6 Division

The U6 division builds upon fundamentals learned during MiniKickers.  Don’t worry though if your child didn’t participate in MiniKickers.  We continue utilizing the services of Play90 with the U6 program, however, game play and parent coaches are introduced.  This program meets for one hour every Saturday during the season and typically runs at 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM

U8, U10, U12, U14/16 Divisions

The U8 through U16 divisions begin to focus more on game play.  Parent volunteer coaches are more involved.  We continue to utilize the services of Play90 trainers for the U8 division, however, it is for practices only which serves to help parent coaches become more independent.  These divisions typically practice for one hour during the week and have one game every Saturday during the season.  Game times range from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM depending on the number of teams in each division.
